I liked it! Great fun.. I liked it. It is just a simplified RTS. It is like Kingdom Rush where you have a roster of champions with different abilities and pick one to use before the encounter. You are slowly given different troops to build but are only able to have a small active force. You need to figure out which troops will be the most beneficial to you at the time. If you are looking for Starcraft type micro-managing then look elsewhere. If you want a simple RTS with lots of little easter eggs then pick this one up.. First impression review after ca. 90 minutes:Concept & idea: 6/10Gameplay: 6/10 Twitch Chat vote: 7/10Graphics: 8/10Sound & Music: 6/10Controls: 4/10 Only minor ways to control your units. No control groups, no attack move. Overall very basic control possibilites. Doesn't feel fit compared to actual PC RTS gamesConclusion: Very simplistic and casual RTS. Does not really feel fit to PC Gaming.Overall: 6/10. 65/100 lots of cast events to kill your hero and troops.. or press you back to retreat, which makes the playtime go up for no reason. The developers couldn´t come up with anything original and used stupid mechanics to make the game challenging and rob the fun.(! Kingdom Rush (Steam) players get a 15% Steam discount !)[Played on Normal Difficulty]- grafics and sounds are quite good and fitting- heroes have their own individual skills and are quite important- don´t expect a real strategy game, more a simple mobile RTS port- biggest problem of this game is the controls and response, which can accumulate very fast to losing battles- the upgrade trees also seem unpolished- last downer is heroes, it takes a lot of time to get more heroes unlocked- be prepared to sink some time for leveling-up and to develop skills of your favourite hero- also without the right upgrades and units it is nearly impossible to even beat the first planet *lol*- game balance itself is between "nice run" and "unfair cpu advantage"- be prepared for some serious grind -_-- the game is not really challenging, just unfair mechanics. eg: last boss on first planet - LOL- now it should be clear why there is no real strategic depth, rather a 3 button smash game ;(- also be prepared that some noob game devs did a sloppy job -> feels like a Beta version-> Honestly, too much headache and not worth 10€, unless you´re a die-hard fan..Regarding how long it took the studio to finally get this out, I´m quite disappointed with such a measly productCan´t be compared to the really excellent Kindom Rush games. Edit: There are challenge missions that unlock after you complete a planet in addtion to the spec ops ones you get while in progress on the planet. Also, the consumable thing isnt a bug and is as intended.Disclaimer: I received a coupon for this game (I think because I own Kingdom Rush) although I probably would have bought this game regardless and it only discounted like $1.As of this review I've played for about 2 hours. My compy specs are: i5-4460 3.2ghz, 16gb RAM, GeForce GTX 980, Win 10. I've experienced no bugs and no crashes.Ay Ironhide did another great job with this one. They've continued moving in the direction of Kingdom Rush moving away from a traditional tower defense game and into a hybrid RTS/Tower Defense. There are still plenty of tower defense elements in this game (in fact offence is most often progressive defense). The persistent hero units are still there each with 3 abilities you can level up between games and each skill can gain 2 skill modifiers (for example the first hero's shield can also reflect melee attacks at level 5).Two things I’d like to get out there.1) People barely completing the tutorial and saying this game is too easy. As with their previous games, it's a slow burner and the levels have multiple difficulties although instead of selecting the difficulty at each level you change it in the settings menu. I'm not sure if they have the challenge modes and such from the previous games although I have done a couple "spec ops" missions where you play with slightly different mechanics.2) It's a mobile port. IMO, and you can check it out for yourself, Ironhide is probs the only company that does mobile ports right. Not only do they optimize the game for CPU (which 90% of these companies don’t even bother with) so it runs smooth as butter. There’re no in-game purchases AT ALL. All the content that you would've purchased in the mobile version is included in the game.In conclusion, nice iteration on their game series (feels like a continuation of the kingdoms series mechanics wise although improved). I'll give it an 4/5.. Basically, it is an Ironhide Game Studio's game. If you like Kingdom Rush you will like this.. I've played this game since it first released on iOS. Loved it, so I just had to get it on Steam. The thing about this game is, I think it aims to be a casual RTS game, with most of the basic and core elements of the genre simplified down to a casual level, like no mini-map, no group control, no attack-move, no queuing order etc; but actually the missions are not that easy. At least not for casual or first time RTS players. The balance is quite spot-on I think.Of course if you are a Starcraft player for example, cruising through this game even on Impossible mode is no sweat. RTS fans like myself sometimes find it annoying for the missing features mentioned above, but I understand this is a casual game, so just relax guys! If you want some real challenges, go play some Starcraft. All in all a very nicely designed game, lots of references and easter eggs, just like Ironhide's other games.8/10
